RFXCOM 433MHz transceiver history

Here an overview of the RFXCOM 433MHz transceivers with the main differences.

RFXtrx433

  • Released Feb 2012 (support ended)
  • This is the first version of the RFXCOM transceivers.
  • The RFXCOM microcontroller has 64kB memory, no EEPROM, analogue transceiver, USB mini-B connector.

RFXtrx433E

  • Released August 2014 (support ended)
  • The RFXCOM microcontroller has 64kB memory, EEPROM (to save protocol settings and Somfy RTS rolling code), analogue transceiver, USB mini-B connector.

RFXtrx433XL

  • Released August 2018 (support ended)
  • The RFXCOM microcontroller has 128kB memory, EEPROM, analogue transceiver, USB mini-B connector.

RFX433XL

  • Released Dec 2022
  • The RFXCOM microcontroller has 128kB memory, EEPROM, digital transceiver, USB mini-B connector.

RFX433XL Wifi

  • Released Dec 2022
  • The RFXCOM microcontroller has 128kB memory, EEPROM, digital transceiver, USB mini-B connector, ESP32 Wifi module.
  • RFXCOM protocol decoding is in the RFXCOM microcontroller. Wifi is handled by an ESP32.

RFX-433 USB/Wifi

  • Released Jan 2025
  • The ESP32-S3 microcontroller has 8MB memory including EEPROM, digital transceiver, USB-C connector.
  • RFXCOM protocol decoding and Wifi is handled by the ESP32-S3.
  • The RFX-EMC microcontroller is available for the secure protocols (Brel bi-directional, Cherubini, Ozroll)

RFX-433EMC USB/Wifi

  • Released Jan 2025
  • This is an RFX-433 with the RFX-EMC secure microcontroller.
  • The RFX-EMC is used for the secure protocols (Brel bi-directional, Cherubini, Ozroll).
